ZINC is a critical micronutrient, but the type of zinc in supplements can influence the impact on the body. Many zinc supplements on the market are formulated with zinc oxide or zinc carbonate, which are poorly absorbed and nearly insoluble. In contrast, Liquid Zinc Assay is made with zinc sulfate heptahydrate, a hydrated form of zinc sulfate, that is water soluble. This highly absorbable form of zinc is designed to provide healthy zinc supplementation.

AN IMPORTANT IMMUNE SYSTEM SUPPORT

The immune system protects the body against pathogens and potentially damaging foreign bodies. When immune dysfunction occurs due to a zinc deficiency, restoring healthy levels of zinc can help support and improve healthy cell function. This micronutrient supports both innate and adaptive immunity. To distinguish between cells that are part of the body’s own healthy tissue and from those that are threats against the immune system, immune cells communicate with one another. For this communication to be successful, the immune cells must have healthy receptors.  Zinc supports cell signaling, an important component to healthy immune system function.

Note:

Strict vegetarians, alcohol abusers, and people who have a poor diet are at higher risk for zinc deficiency. So are those with certain digestive problems, such as Crohn’s disease etc.

ZINC TASTE TEST

Using Zinc Assay (Zinc sulfate) is an easy and inexpensive way to home test for your zinc status based on studies of taste and smell.  The British Medical Association’s British National Formulary, in 1988, was the first peer- reviewed recommendation on use of the Zinc Taste Test (ZTT) to assess zinc need.

It’s easy and here are the simple instructions.  Also during this pandemic season, it is important your levels are optimal.

Place two teaspoons (10ml.) in a cup; holding or swirling it in the mouth exactly ten seconds.  It is essential to refrain from eating, drinking or smoking for approximately one hour before the test to get accurate results.

For the zinc taste test, the defined standards are:

  1. Severe deficiency: no specific taste sensation: tastes like plain water.
  2. Moderate Deficiency: no immediate taste is noticed but, within the ten seconds of the test, a ‘dry’ or ‘metallic’ taste is experienced.
  3. Mild Deficiency: an immediate slight taste is noted, which increases with time over the ten second period.
  4. Adequate Zinc Status: an immediate, strong and unpleasant taste is experienced. This indicates that no zinc deficiency exists. If this is the response to the first test done then obviously the diet already contains sufficient zinc and no supplement need be taken. A dose of 15-25 mg / day is usually sufficient to maintain adequate zinc status in people with only metabolic needs.

Under stress or with toxin exposure, need for zinc can be up to 100 mg / day or more.  Consult a professional if you feel you are extremely deficient.

If too much zinc is consumed, a distinctive small intestinal discomfort confirms excess zinc. As a water-soluble element, reducing zinc intake brings people back to homeostatic zinc balance.

If you experience drowsiness, dizziness, hypotension or a headache as side-effects when using Zinc Sulfate, please contact your health practitioner.

If more zinc than is needed is present, a distinctive small intestinal discomfort confirms excess zinc. As a water-soluble element, reducing zinc intake brings people back to homeostatic zinc balance.
